There’s nothing quite like Marmaris, with its tranquil beaches and serene landscapes, and this recent trip reminded me of why I love it so much. This time, I had the pleasure of staying at Vira Demir Boutique Hotel and Beach – a place that holds a special place in my heart because, well, Can and I are the bosses there!
Perfect Blend of Work and Play
I spent 8 unforgettable days at Vira Demir with two of my dearest friends, Buket and Demet. From the moment we arrived, the hotel felt like our little slice of paradise. There’s something about waking up every morning to the sound of the waves and a perfect Turkish breakfast that sets the tone for a day filled with both relaxation and fun.
Midway through our stay, Erdem and Tamer joined us for two nights. Though their stay was brief, it was packed with moments that kept the energy high. From shared meals to long chats by the beach, their presence was a refreshing change during our laid-back routine.
Tavla Triumphs and a Surprising Defeat
One of the most fun parts of our trip was the competitive tavla (backgammon) matches. Now, I’m not usually one to brag, but I managed to beat Erdem and Tamer three games in a row! Every win felt like a little victory, especially when you’re playing against friends who know their way around the game board. But, the tides turned on my last day. In an unexpected twist, Demet swooped in and handed me a loss. It was the perfect, lighthearted end to the competition and a reminder that you can’t win them all – but you can always have fun trying.
The Hotel: A Haven of Comfort and Charm
Vira Demir is no ordinary boutique hotel. Its attention to detail and personal touch made each day feel special. The rooms are the perfect blend of comfort and luxury, and with the sea just a stone’s throw away, the setting couldn’t be more ideal. Whether we were lounging by the beach, enjoying a quiet moment in the garden, or sipping cocktails at sunset, every moment was a reminder of how wonderful this place truly is.
As much as I enjoyed the relaxation, Can and I also had to balance being “bosses” and making sure the hotel ran smoothly. Thankfully, the amazing staff made that easy, so we got to enjoy the best of both worlds—running a great hotel while still indulging in everything Marmaris has to offer.

As my time in Marmaris came to an end, I couldn’t help but reflect on how perfect this trip was. Between the unbeatable location, the amazing company, and the relaxing atmosphere at Vira Demir Boutique Hotel and Beach, it was everything I needed. Demet’s final tavla win? Just a bonus memory to bring me back next time.
I’m already looking forward to my next return to Marmaris – and of course, to being back at Vira Demir, where Can and I will continue to make it an unforgettable place for everyone. The atmosphere made it feel more like a home away from home than a typical hotel stay.
